The reason why chat rooms are popular amongst people is because chatting especially video chatting makes the distance between you and your friends and family appear very less and gives the feeling of closeness and nearness between you and your family even though you may far away from them. However, online chat rooms are not completely safe, and one needs to be careful here. While some people are there who share with their new online friends their real identities and pictures whereas there are some who do not show their actual pictures and give a fake identity to remain anonymous or discreet. It is not encouraged by the chat rooms to lie or show fake and unreal pictures or identities, but it is also advised to the people/users to not share their real pictures and personal details to a stranger, you may do so once you are sure of that person and their being after chatting with him/her for a long time.

Another thing that is not advisable is the use of abusive and insulting language. The use of such language can hurt the sentiments of people and thus should be avoided by users. Chat rooms are made for entertainment purposes but there are people who do not put chat rooms to a good use and thus tend to pollute the environment of the chat rooms. But these are a few glitches and are not so big, keeping them aside it is fun for anyone o go chatting online and making new friends.
